I create papercut ketubot for private clients in the Nouveau Judaica style.

What is a ketubah, you ask? A KETUBAH is a decorative marriage covenant used and exhibited in Jewish, non-denominational and non-traditional weddings and commitment ceremonies wherein the couple's vows to each other are declared.

Japanese Maple

New design, which I gave a preview of last month, is now listed in the Urban Collective shop! Japanese Maple came about after a client specifically requested a design inspired by the beautiful tree. We liked it so much that we decided to make it available for everyone!

I love the shape of the tree. When I first approached the task, I wanted the design to be based on the illustration principles of Japanese drawings, though I don't think it's readily apparent. After trying several designs where more of the tree trunk is featured, in the end I decided it would be more interesting to concentrate on the beautiful maple leaves. I tried a new outline-cutout look with this one, and I'm really pleased with the result. The design looks delicate and for some reason festive. Don't you agree?
