H E L L O !
My name is Naomi Shiek (pronounced CHIC).
I create papercut ketubot for private clients in the Nouveau Judaica style.

What is a ketubah, you ask? A KETUBAH is a decorative marriage covenant used and exhibited in Jewish, non-denominational and non-traditional weddings and commitment ceremonies wherein the couple's vows to each other are declared.

Two kind people have asked me to create certificates for deserving people lately, and took me away from the papercut ketubot that have been my bread and butter. Papercutting on a small scale has been a welcome reprieve between large commissions. I admit, it let me catch up on Downton Abbey!

Machine cut, embellished by hand.
Made for the Repair the World, a volunteer organization aiming to improve communities using Jewish values and a pro active attitude.

This certificate honoring a couple was presented to them at the annual benefit dinner for the Mesivta High School of Greater Philadelphia. The brief was to create a design inspired by a quote from the Talmud describing the Giving Tree. A lovely quote on selflessness.
