custom | Vintage Love Party ketubah

Back in September of 2016 (how time flies!) Ilana commissioned me to create a ketubah to fit her vintage romantic wedding theme. She sent me photos of her wedding invitations, flowers and decor. Think awesome flowers, hot air balloons, light strings and Japanese parasols on the ceiling.
To me, this mashup of vintage, Japanese, romantic kitsche is immediately associated with steampunk cartoons! (I grew up on Japanese animation series like Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, TaoTao, Little Mrs. Pepperpot and.... I'm just going to stop right here) How does it all connect? Who knows, the creative mind is a wonderful place. So, I decided on drawing blooming flowers, flaying cranes, and a dog sailing in a giant hot air balloon - because the cuteness! The finished ketubah is elegant & fun - a perfect accompaniment to Ilana & Michael's wedding!
