My name is Naomi Shiek (pronounced CHIC).
I create papercut ketubot for private clients in the Nouveau Judaica style.

What is a ketubah, you ask? A KETUBAH is a decorative marriage covenant used and exhibited in Jewish, non-denominational and non-traditional weddings and commitment ceremonies wherein the couple's vows to each other are declared.

Try something new

I'm fiddling with my blog layout today. Hopefully I'll have it looking half-way decent by tomorrow.

This sweet little illustration is a result of five weeks of learning to use Illustrator. I've always admired digital drawing but never thought I'd be able to do it. It seemed so technical, and pressing a computer mouse just isn't the same as holding a pencil. Thankfully my mother got me to splurge (pushed me into an impulse buy, is more accurate) on a Wacom. So now I'm finally learning how to use the wonderful tool that is Illustrator (I was a freehand girl, never thought I'd let Adobe sway me away). I'm starting to have fun with it! You can see more of my little forays into digital drawing (very little at the moment, but I expect I'll try more and more) in my computer arts set.
